Already as a child Andjela Kolar showed a lot of interest for music. As a 3-year-old girl she sang "Holy night" in the church and was accepted in the respected Darmstadt Academy for Musical Arts. Andjela visited the Academy for 15 years and developed her musical talents more and more. Playing the piano and particularly singing always have been her favourite disciplines. In Frankfurt Andjela has taken lessons of singing.
When singing is qualified as a passion, often a lot of clichees are present, but there is hardly any person fitting this statement as well as Andjela Kolar. During a performance on a wedding ceremony of common friends, Andjela met the Croatian singer Drazen Zecic who was already popular at that time. As he was enthusiastic about her voice and vocal possibilities, Zecic offered Andjela to cooperate. After a moment of hesitating due to the fact that she was still going to school, Andjela and Drazen Zecic agreed to record a duet, not even anticipating what kind of success could come out of this decision. During a visit of Drazen Zecic to Darmstadt, Andjela and the popular singer and composer from Split created the song "Ima li nade za nas" (=Is there hope for us) on the piano in the living room. In summer 1998 the two singers performed "Ima li nade za nas" on one of the main Croatian music festivals "Melodije hrvatskog Jadrana" in Split.
"Ima li nade za nas" became the top hit of the year in Croatia. The song was honoured as the most performed and played title of the year during the same festival in 1999. What came was a nomination for the Croatian Music Award "Porin", a lot of performances, interviews and concerts of Drazen Zecic and Andjela.
Although she had an excellent chance to begin her solo career as a singer in Croatia , the 17-year-old Andjela decided together with her parents first to continue with school. She made an exam as bilingual secretary and started to work in office. Yet, music was still present in Andjela's life. Performances in Germany as a guest on concerts of Drazen Zecic, recording of back vocals for many German and Croatian bands and singing in the choir of the Croatian Catholic mission in Darmstadt were only some of the regular musical activities of Andjela Kolar.
In 2004 Andjela performed the song "Nikada ja nisam shvatila" (=I never understood it) within the Croatian Radio Festival. In the beginning of 2005 she was on stage with the Split stars and the most popular Croatian singers in the well-known Liederhalle Stuttgart. During autumn 2006 Andjela performed together with Drazen Zecic and Mate Bulic also in Stuttgart/Liederhalle on a charity concert for the main hospital in Mostar.
The summer 2007 brought a new cooperation with Drazen Zecic and the recording of the new hit single "Nema nista novo" (=There is nothing new) which in fact is a continuation of "Ima li nade za nas".
Totally different as it is said in the title of the new hit single, we can look forward to many new things in the career of Andjela Kolar.
